Im sure this video is on here somewhere but I couldn’t find it and now The Tony Awards made it unlisted.

Jason Robert Brown winning the Tony for his Bridges score while simultaneously praising the women in his life who helped with Bridges. It’s inspiring.

westendactress:

“Thank you to all of the women who contributed so much to this season and to theatre in general and may you be well and better represented in future seasons” - Jason Robert Brown, Tony Acceptance Speech 2014.

Why do you call the Tonys the bullshit awards?

i have been waiting months for this anon omg

okay so i do for several reasons and the first is just bc i’m poking fun. i mean, it’s not the awards that a show gets that makes it a work of art. it’s how it touches people and teaches people. so many monumental shows don’t win the best musical award or any awards. gypsy didn’t win a single tony and now it’s regarded as one of the most extraordinary pieces of musical theatre ever created.

honestly, the tag originated from my angst against the best musical snub for the bridges of madison county. but as the awards season went on i kept the tag cause i just got really sick of the commercialized representation the tony awards were giving the theatre.

i love love love the tony awards. i go to a party every year or if there isn’t one i host it myself. i live tweet up the fucking wazoo and have a blast watching the performances and cheering on the talented people of the community i hold so dear.

but awards are bullshit.
